The third thematic research line “Leverage local food systems” is focused on fostering local food production systems and the respective short-supply chains, supported by the novel concept of “food hubs”. This RL aims to address the creation of a food environment that makes the “healthy and sustainable choice” the easy choice for consumers, while promoting, among other aspects, the creation of a sustainable food labelling framework to facilitate consumer choice and the implementation of strategies to reduce food waste in the food chain and, particularly, in the households.
